The Bay Brewery was established in 1868. They changed the name to the Milwaukee Brewery in 1880 and became the Milwaukee Brewery of San Francisco in 1895. In 1935 they became The San Francisco Brewing Corp operating under that name until 1956.

The brewery changed ownership several times over the next 22 years, eventually closing in 1978
